The State of Generative AI in 2024

Developers using an AI copilot can now write code more than two times faster those who don’t use AI assistance. Multimodal AI will soon become so commonplace that it essentially becomes table stakes. And there’s a rapidly growing wave of AI companionship among younger generations as statistics show we’re in the midst of a loneliness epidemic in the US.

How should business leaders look at these trends and the many more that are covered in CB Insights’ exhaustive report on 2024 generative AI predictions?

Courtney Baker, David DeWolf, and Mohan Rao dive into this meaty, 112-page report and help listeners make sense of some of the stats and trends it covers. A few topics the team covers in more depth include:

  • When it comes to using AI to drive productivity, is it true that only the more senior developers or knowledge workers are gaining the benefits? Not exactly, Mohan says
  • Many people are still thinking of multimodal as just being able to feed various types of different inputs into AI. While this may be technically accurate, David says what that view misses is that the next leap forward with AI will be when the technology becomes proactive rather than reactive

Chief Strategy Officer Pete Buer also talks with Praveen Narra, CEO of Tech.US, about how his organization is using AI to help companies completely reinvent their business models—and how you can do the same.

Praveen pulls on the thread of Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai’s analogy that AI will be more important than fire or electricity to shed light on where we are in this moment in time. He believes that, just like electricity, AI will become embedded in every business in the future in some form or fashion. The trick is to figure out how you can use AI or generative AI to build something new and add more value to your customers than anybody else can.
