Our Hottest Takes on the Future of Business & AI

Which of the FAANG stocks will begin to see a slow demise in the age of AI? Why won’t AI be the panacea for all companies that many people are predicting? Is it possible for AI transformations to be even less successful than the digital transformations of the last decade-plus? And is AI as we know it actually slowing us down and serving as a drain on productivity rather than a boon for it?

This episode of AI Knowhow features the hottest take each member of our C-Suite has on the future of AI and business, followed by a roundtable discussion of each.

David DeWolf kicks things off with a prediction that’s informed by the recent news that Nvidia recently surpassed Amazon and Alphabet to become the 4th most valuable company in the world. David suggests that Amazon is particularly ripe for disruption due to gains the Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure are making on Amazon Web Services, which has long been one of Amazon’s most profitable businesses.

Mohan Rao’s hot take? The idea that AI is something that will be a benefit for every company in existence today is overblown. Many companies don’t require the kinds of nuanced intelligence AI can provide. The result? There will be a growing AI divide between companies that are thoughtful in how they’ve established their company and its value chain versus companies that are more focused on repeatability and standardization.

Pete Buer cites McKinsey research that 70% of digital transformations fail in making his prediction: 90% of major AI transformations will fail to meet their goals. He also gives us a bonus prediction: Travis Kelce will propose to Taylor Swift on March 20th, the first day of spring…stay tuned on that one!

Courtney Baker’s hot take is that, in 2024, AI will actually slow us down and make us less productive rather than speed us up and make us more productive. She cites the ever-growing number of AI tools available in the Marketing space and the learning curve associated with gaining familiarity with each as an example of the double-edged sword that is AI in 2024.
